Galveston County Towns/Cities

Galveston was chartered in 1839, as a port for the southwest of the country. At the apex of Galveston’s popularity the Strand was considered the Wall Street of the south, now it is a great place for shopping, restaurants and bars. Many of the most popular cruise lines leave from this area, bringing in visitors from all around the country. Texas City was once Shoal Point, until 3 brothers from Minnesota put together Myers Brothers syndicate convincing investors to purchase 4000 hectares off the Galveston Bay.  That 10,000 acre tract of land was later renamed Texas City.    To learn more visit the Texas City website.
