Downtown Houston is centrally located and founded in 1836.  After a couple of rough decades of the 1970's and 80's city officials decide in the early 1990's took on a revitalization to bring more people back to the city.    The renewal project brought in investors for retail, multi-family, conversions of warehouses into lofts, bars, nightclubs, hotels, conversion of the Rice Hotel into mixed use housing, retail and restaurants.  And of course the addition of Minute Maid Park and the Toyota Center have brought the people to downtown Houston, check out the website to see all there is to do.
